Watson out of grand final in huge Roosters blow
Connor Watson has been ruled out of the NRL grand final with concussion, with Benaiah Ioelu expected to replace him for the Roosters.
The Roosters utility suffered a concussion in their preliminary final win over the Dolphins.
Connor Watson will miss the NRL grand final after his concussion from the preliminary final was upgraded to a category one by an independent doctor.
Watson was injured barely a minute after taking the field against the Dolphins, and Roosters coach Trent Robinson said the decision was out of his hands.
Benaiah Ioelu is expected to fill Watson's spot, with final teams confirmed at 6.30pm Sunday, one hour before kick-off.
