TikToker wins copyright fight against activewear giant Alo Yoga
A Sydney TikToker won her copyright appeal after activewear brand Alo Yoga tried to silence her honest review of a $150 tracksuit that pilled badly after just three washes.
An Australian content creator has slammed global activewear brand Alo Yoga after the multibillion-dollar giant hit her TikTok account with copyright and intellectual property (IP) infringement claims following an honest product review.
Sydney TikToker Meredith posted a critical review of an Alo Yoga tracksuit and the brand responded by filing copyright and IP infringement claims against her video.
The $150 Accolade range tracksuit pilled severely after just three wash cycles, and the video was taken down for nearly three weeks while TikTok reviewed her appeal.
TikTok ultimately ruled in Meredith's favour, restoring the video and vindicating her right to post an honest consumer review.
If a brand ever files a copyright strike against your review, you can appeal through the platform's internal process by showing your content meets consumer review rights.
