A UK woman whose golf ball-sized forehead lump was initially dismissed as a cyst turned out to have an incurable blood cancer that had eaten a hole in her skull.
Katrina Fox says she joked with friends about her golf ball-sized growth, even nicknaming it Bert.
Katrina Fox, 38, from Rochester in the UK, was diagnosed with incurable myeloma after a lump on her forehead turned out to be a tumour that had eaten through her skull.
Doctors found a 3cm gap in her cranium through which they could see her brain, and she has since had chemotherapy, a stem cell transplant and titanium mesh inserts.
Katrina is now raising awareness, urging anyone with similar symptoms to get help early and push their medical team, saying it could save their life.
Myeloma's early signs, including back pain, fatigue and recurring infections, are often mistaken for aging or minor illness, so experts say push your GP if symptoms persist.
