Severe flooding in Bangkok has forced nearly 4,900 people into emergency shelters after more than 330mm of rain fell in just a few days.
More than 300mm of rain fell in two days in parts of Thailand’s capital, inundating homes, shops and roads
Heavy rain caused widespread flooding across Bangkok, prompting a disaster declaration and the evacuation of thousands of residents to shelters.
About 52,000 households were affected, with one resident saying water levels were higher than the devastating 2011 floods that killed over 500 people.
Scientists warn that extreme weather events like this will become more frequent and intense as the planet continues to warm due to fossil fuel emissions.
