Warner Bros has released the first set photos from the new Lord of the Rings film shooting in New Zealand, with Andy Serkis directing and a release date of December 2027.
The images, posted to the studio's TikTok page for Hobbit Day on Tuesday, show Hobbits in the Shire and director Andy Serkis working behind a camera.
Warner Bros shared the first images from the New Zealand set of The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum on Hobbit Day.
Andy Serkis is both directing and reprising his role as Gollum, with Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy also joining the cast.
The film is due for release on December 17, 2027, and the New Zealand Film Commission says the production is expected to give the local screen industry a significant boost.
