France is boosting its funding to fight Ebola in eastern Congo after its foreign minister visited the region and warned the virus could resurge quickly if vigilance drops.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot visited the Congolese city of Bunia and announced France would increase its Ebola funding amid fears of a resurgence.
France had already allocated 13.4 million euros to fighting Ebola between January and July, and Barrot said he would propose additional humanitarian funding in upcoming French budget discussions.
Barrot said Ebola can return very quickly if vigilance wanes, and the issue is set to be discussed at a national humanitarian conference in Paris on October 6.
