Families of 55 Malaysians still missing after a Nepal glacial flood met with government officials for a second briefing on search efforts.
PUTRAJAYA: Family members of the 55 Malaysians who remain missing following the glacial flash flood incident in Nepal arrived at Wisma Putra as early as 9am on Sunday (Sept 27) to meet with government representatives regarding the latest updates on the search efforts for their loved ones.
Families of 55 missing Malaysians gathered at Wisma Putra in Putrajaya for a closed-door briefing on search efforts in Nepal.
The glacial flash flood struck on August 26, and a Malaysian rescue team deployed to Nepal returned on September 14 after ground searches and drone surveillance.
Malaysian PM Anwar raised the need for a formal support mechanism with Nepal's PM, as Nepalese authorities continue search and identification operations.
DNA samples are being collected from families at these briefings to help identify any recovered victims, so affected families should attend if contacted.
