Celebrated Irish multi-instrumentalist Dónal Lunny, widely regarded as central to the revival of Irish traditional music, has died at the age of 79.
Lunny co-founded the groundbreaking group Planxty in 1971 alongside Christy Moore, Liam O'Flynn and Andy Irvine, and later formed Moving Hearts in the mid-1980s.
He leaves behind a vast catalogue of recordings as both a performer and producer, and is remembered for championing the bouzouki in Irish traditional music.
