One antibody, three targets: New strategy against triple-negative breast cancer
Researchers have developed a new antibody that attacks triple-negative breast cancer on three fronts at once, showing promising results in early lab studies.
Researchers at Tavotek Biotherapeutics develop a tri-specific antibody that attacks triple-negative breast cancer by blocking several tumor growth pathways at once.
Researchers at Tavotek Biotherapeutics developed a tri-specific antibody called TAVO412 that targets three proteins linked to triple-negative breast cancer growth and spread.
In mouse models, TAVO412 slowed tumour growth across multiple cancer subtypes and in some cases outperformed existing therapies, the study found.
The approach aims to reduce the risk of relapse by blocking several cancer pathways at once, rather than the single-target drugs that tumours can more easily resist.
This is still in preclinical stages using mouse models, so ask your oncologist or GP about current treatment trials if you or someone you know has triple-negative breast cancer.
