Indonesians allege social media posts on wildfires and haze are being censored
Indonesian activists and public figures say TikTok and Instagram are removing or restricting posts about the country's deadly wildfire smoke crisis.
Environmental science and conservation news
An Indonesian health NGO had its TikTok post about wildfire air pollution removed and its Instagram account suspended after the content went viral.
The TikTok post used official government data showing an air pollution index of 1,200, four times the hazardous threshold of 300.
Multiple Indonesian celebrities, civil society groups and officials report similar restrictions, raising concerns about censorship of environmental information.
