A Rwandan man living in north London has become the first person charged in the UK with offences relating to the 1994 Rwanda genocide.
Dr Vincent Brown, formerly Dr Vincent Bajinya, 65, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with seven offences.
Dr Vincent Brown, formerly known as Dr Vincent Bajinya, has been charged in the UK with one count of conduct ancillary to genocide and six counts of murder as a crime against humanity.
The charges follow a seven-year Metropolitan Police War Crimes Team investigation that began in 2019 after a formal request from the Rwandan government.
The Crown Prosecution Service said Brown is alleged to have directed and incited acts of murder and genocide, and he will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
