Christa Pike has not regained consciousness - lawyer
Christa Pike, whose execution in Tennessee failed last week, remains unconscious on a ventilator in hospital and her prognosis may not be known for several more days.
Christa Pike has remained unconscious and on a ventilator at a hospital in the four days since her failed execution in Tennessee, and her prognosis might not be known for days more, one of her lawyers said.
Christa Pike, 50, has remained unconscious and on a ventilator for four days after Tennessee prison officials gave her two doses of lethal injection drug pentobarbital that failed to kill her.
Her lawyers say her arms were burned and blistered from the caustic drugs, and they have asked a court to order officials to preserve all records from the execution attempt.
Her legal team says they may not know for several more days whether she can recover, and the person holding her medical power of attorney is protecting her privacy.
