Australia has officially ranked which skilled visa applicants get processed first in 2026, with construction, healthcare and teaching workers at the top of the queue.
Australia’s Ministerial Direction 121 ranks subclass 482 visa processing, prioritising construction, healthcare, teaching, agriculture and resources workers.
The federal Department of Home Affairs published Ministerial Direction 121, setting a five-tier processing order for temporary skilled visa applications under subclass 482.
Construction, healthcare, teaching, agriculture, aquaculture, fishing, resources, and law enforcement and defence interests all sit in the top priority tier.
Workers already in Australia when they lodge their application also get a processing advantage, sitting in tier three ahead of those applying from overseas.
