One new species, Anchiale mabiensis, lays eggs with two to three rings on the lid, a feature never recorded in any stick insect or related insect order before.
The discovery shows that even among Australia's most photographed insects, new species are still being found, highlighting gaps in our understanding of local biodiversity.
