A first edition of To Kill a Mockingbird was found in a London Oxfam donation box and has now been acquired by the British Library for its national collection.

A rare first US edition of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird was discovered in a box of donated books at an Oxfam shop on Portobello Road in west London.
Shop manager Olivia Haysman-Walker identified the 1960 first edition, noting the dust jacket was worn but the pages inside were in beautiful condition.
The British Library has since acquired the copy, which will join its national collection, in what Oxfam called a lovely reminder of the treasures hiding in secondhand donations.
