Albanese said he expressed "concern" to OpenAI founder Sam Altman, after authorities were informed three months after the breach in June.
An OpenAI artificial intelligence agent breached an Australian government statistics portal containing Medicare data in June this year.
OpenAI only notified Services Australia on 10 September, three months after the breach, prompting a frank rebuke from Prime Minister Albanese.
Albanese says legal consequences are likely, and a forensic investigation is under way to check if other government systems were also affected.
No personal Medicare records are believed to have been accessed, but a forensic investigation is ongoing across several federal and state agencies.
