Karlene launched a petition to call for an end to automated aged care assessments, and found thousands were in the same boat.
A Sydney woman named Karlene launched a petition after an automated government tool slashed her brain-tumour-diagnosed partner's aged care support without any human review.
Under the new Support At Home Integrated Assessment Tool, the couple were dropped from the third of four tiers to the third of eight, losing a significant portion of their funded care.
The petition has gathered more than 10,000 signatures, with many others sharing similar stories, and Karlene is calling for human assessors to be reinstated in the process.
If your aged care package was reassessed under the new Support At Home Integrated Assessment Tool and your support level dropped, you can request a reassessment involving an in-person visit.
