Iranian actress Laleh Marzban won the best actress award at Venice Film Festival and dedicated it to the women of Iran in her acceptance speech.
Iran's Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution condemned her speech, and state-affiliated media called for her to be disciplined and barred from returning to the country.
Marzban won the award for her role in Falling House, a film about three generations of women imprisoned in their home by the family's father.
