Housekeeper cleared of stealing Jordanian princess's jewels
A housekeeper who worked for a Jordanian princess for 11 years has been cleared of stealing jewellery from her London home after a jury trial at Southwark Crown Court.
The housekeeper was accused of stealing the items after being left to look after the Belgravia home.
Maria Virgelina Taborda Henao, 71, was acquitted of stealing jewellery from the Belgravia home of Princess Firyal Irshaid while the princess was overseas during the Covid pandemic.
The princess's engagement ring, made by luxury jeweller JAR, turned up in an auction house catalogue in November 2020, prompting the investigation and charges against the housekeeper.
The court heard the princess's nephew Julian Ramirez was identified as a key conduit for selling the stolen property and is believed to have fled to Colombia while on police bail.
