HomeView and More: Everything Apple Announced at Its 'Welcome Home' Event
Apple launched a new smart home display called HomeView plus a range of home devices, making a big push into the smart home market dominated by Amazon and Google.
Apple is making a sweeping new entry into home tech.
Apple held its Welcome Home event and unveiled a sweeping new lineup of smart home products centred on a device called the HomeView display.
The HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, Apple's A18 chip, and can recognise up to six household members by their faces for personalised home screens.
Apple is directly challenging Amazon and Google in the smart home space, and its iPhone-based setup could make switching easier for existing Apple users.
Setup is as simple as holding your iPhone near the device, so if you already use Apple products, adding HomeView to your home should be straightforward.
