Ashley Paul Griffith, already serving life in Queensland, was extradited to NSW early this morning to face 202 additional charges.
The charges include sexual intercourse with a child under 10, indecent assault and producing child abuse material relating to NSW children.
He will remain in NSW custody until his trial concludes, then serve his sentence in whichever state hands down the harsher penalty.
Notorious childcare paedophile Ashley Paul Griffith has been extradited from Queensland to New South Wales to stand trial for additional charges.
Queensland corrective services minister Laura Gerber announced this afternoon that Griffith had been extradited just after 6:30am this morning and crossed the NSW border just after 8am.
The former childcare worker is currently serving life in jail in Queensland after admitting to offences against 69 girls at early learning centres in Brisbane and Italy over two decades.
He faces an additional 202 charges relating to children in NSW.
They include sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10 years, indecent assault of a person under 16, and producing child abuse material, among other charges related to children.
Ms Gerber said Griffith had been handed over to NSW custody.
"He is serving a life sentence in Queensland but he has been extradited into New South Wales to face those 202 charges, abhorrent charges, and those victims so that they can get justice in New South Wales," she said.
"I hope he hit every pothole on the way," Ms Gerber said.
Queensland Corrective Services said Griffith will remain in NSW until the conclusion of his trial and will go on to serve his jail term in the state that levels the harshest sentence.
During his sentencing for Queensland offences in 2024 the judge ordered Griffith to serve 27 years before being eligible for parole, almost double the state's statutory minimum sentence.
Griffith lost an appeal against the sentence on grounds it was manifestly excessive in June.
