Two ironies emerge out of Israel's deadlocked election
Israel's election has produced no clear winner, leaving Netanyahu as caretaker PM while coalition talks begin and Arab parties find themselves as potential kingmakers.
With no clear winner, it will be up to Israeli President Isaac Herzog to decide whether any of the parties can form what he regards as a workable coalition.
Israel's election delivered a deadlocked result, with more than two-thirds of voters backing parties opposed to Benjamin Netanyahu.
Netanyahu's bloc is predicted to win only 50 of the 120 Knesset seats, leaving him 11 short of the 61 needed to form a majority government.
President Isaac Herzog must now decide if any party can form a workable coalition, while Netanyahu remains in office as caretaker in the meantime.
