Air New Zealand has flown the first international passengers into Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek, which opened to overseas travellers just one day after its domestic launch.
The Auckland flight marks the opening of Western Sydney International to overseas travellers, giving Kiwis a second airport option about 50km from the city centre.
Air New Zealand flew the first international passengers into Western Sydney International Airport on Monday, the day after the airport opened to domestic flights.
The airport is located at Badgerys Creek, about 50km west of Sydney's city centre, runs around the clock, and is the first Australian airport to ditch the paper passenger arrival card.
Sydney travellers now have a second international airport option, with the new facility promising more flexibility for airlines and faster digital arrivals processing for passengers.
The new airport operates 24 hours a day and lets passengers complete arrival declarations digitally before landing, scrapping the paper passenger card from day one.
