Multinational ‘anti-war bloc’ uses Istanbul summit to call for a diplomatic solution to Middle East crisis
Foreign ministers from eight European and Middle Eastern countries gathered in Istanbul and jointly called on the US and Israel to avoid new military strikes on Iran.
Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan said all countries at the table agreed a new military attack would spread the war and conflict across the region.
The summit also demanded an end to Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the reopening of the strait of Hormuz, which is currently blockaded by Iranian ships and drones.
French and UK foreign ministers warned another Iran war would worsen already rising oil prices, which have hit their highest level since May, so watch for fuel price rises at the bowser.
