A big band of heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible flash flooding is heading for southeastern Australia this weekend, after Melbourne copped up to 60mm on Thursday.
A deluge of rainy weather is about to hit millions of people across southeastern parts of Australia this weekend.
Melbourne was hit by torrential rain and flash flooding on Thursday, with SES crews rescuing people from cars caught in the deluge.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned 50 to 100mm could fall on eastern Victoria and the Otway Coast, with large hail and damaging winds also possible across western NSW.
Conditions are expected to ease in Melbourne and Sydney by Sunday, but showers will linger along the Gippsland, ACT and NSW south coast into the new week.
Flash flooding and damaging winds are forecast for eastern Victoria, NSW, the ACT and parts of South Australia through to Sunday, so check BOM warnings before heading out.
