New Zealand director Paloma Schneideman's debut film Big Girls Don't Cry has become a hit on the international film festival circuit since premiering at Sundance in February.
The film won the Nouvelle Vagues Grand Prix and earned praise from actress Kristen Stewart, with Variety calling it a gentle, rigorous, queer coming-of-age story.
The film is set for general release in New Zealand and the US on 8 and 9 October respectively.
