Qantas, Virgin fight for new flights to Bali
Qantas and Virgin are both fighting for extra Bali flight slots after Australia and Indonesia agreed to open up 5,000 more seats a week.
The Indonesian hotspot has become a battleground for Qantas and Virgin Australia.
Both Qantas and Virgin Australia have lodged competing bids for 5,000 extra weekly seats opened up under a new Australia-Indonesia bilateral agreement.
Virgin wants all 5,086 seats, including new double-daily Perth to Bali flights, while Qantas is pushing for Brisbane to Bali and Perth to Jakarta routes.
Australia's International Air Services Commission will now decide how to split the seats, likely meaning more Bali flight options and potentially lower fares.
More competition for Bali seats could mean cheaper fares, so it is worth watching for deals once the International Air Services Commission makes its decision.
