F1: Lawson claims seventh after flying start as Verstappen wins in Malaysia
Max Verstappen won the Malaysian Grand Prix and Liam Lawson finished seventh, while George Russell's retirement handed a big title boost to Kimi Antonelli.
“I had one of the best starts I’ve ever had in my career, and that put us in a great position for the rest of the race," Lawson said after the race.
Max Verstappen claimed his first Formula 1 win of the season at the Malaysian Grand Prix, ending a long drought for the four-time champion.
New Zealander Liam Lawson started 11th but surged to fourth on the opening lap on intermediate tyres, eventually finishing seventh for six points.
George Russell's retirement extended Kimi Antonelli's championship lead over his Mercedes teammate to 84 points with seven races remaining.
