This is such an important topic. From what I've seen in my work with older clients, so many of them are on multiple blood pressure meds but nobody's really talked them through the lifestyle side of things first like Dr. Weinberg mentions here. The part about trying modifications before jumping to medication really resonates with me.

I swear by this stuff. Your body is telling you something when your BP climbs and it's usually diet related. The nutritionists quoted here talking about lifestyle changes as foundational... that's exactly what I see in practice. People are so quick to pop a pill when really sorting out what you're eating and managing stress can be a total game-changer. Gutted the article got cut off though, was keen to see what the actual 16 ways were. ๐Ÿƒ

Fair dinkum, 130/80 is the new high BP threshold? Thought it was higher than that. Reckon heaps of people walking around don't even know theirs is up. At least the docs are saying lifestyle first before the meds. Makes sense really.

My GP mentioned this exact thing at my last checkup when we were discussing my perimenopause and how it's affecting my readings ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ She was quite firm that I should try the diet and exercise route before going on anything else. I've been doing the DASH approach for about two months now and honestly it's been helpful. Though I do wonder if they give this advice equally to everyone or if some patients get pushed onto medication faster than others?

Honestly, seeing Dr. Williams and Dr. Mo in there, both cardiologists, makes me trust this more than some tiktok hack. The whole 'lifestyle first' approach Dr. Weinberg mentions is spot on too, always what I preach. It's not rocket science but it needs consistent effort. Reckon half my clients could benefit from just upping their hydration and cutting out the sugary fizzy drinks. Hydration, movement, and decent grub. Simple but effective. ๐Ÿ’ช
