The owners of Elvis Presley's music catalogue are suing AI company Anthropic for allegedly using 274 of his songs without permission to train its Claude model.
Authentic Brands Group says AI company infringed on rights of songs by the King such as Can’t Help Falling in Love
Authentic Brands Group, which owns Elvis Presley's music and likeness, has filed a lawsuit against AI company Anthropic over alleged copyright infringement.
The lawsuit claims Anthropic used 274 Presley songs including Can't Help Falling in Love to train its Claude AI, and is seeking up to $41 million in damages.
Legal experts say this is one of the first major cases brought directly by an artist's estate against an AI developer, and the outcome could reshape how AI firms use music.
The case could set a legal precedent for how AI companies are allowed to use existing music catalogues, affecting artists and rights holders broadly.
