A Missouri man who was adopted at birth discovered at age 58 that his biological father is Doobie Brothers singer Michael McDonald, after a DNA match on 23andMe.
An adopted Missouri man got the shock of a lifetime when he discovered his biological father was five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Michael McDonald of The Doobie Brothers. Michael Goessling was put up for adoption as an infant after his biological parents got pregnant when they were both 14 years old, First Alert 4 reported.
Michael Goessling, a 58-year-old adopted man from St. Louis, found out through a 23andMe DNA match that his biological father is five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald.
The discovery began when Goessling matched with a half-brother on 23andMe, which led him to his birth mother and eventually to a phone call with McDonald himself.
McDonald said he always carried guilt about not knowing what happened to his son, and the two have since met in person and embraced as family.
