A second WA child has been hospitalised with meningococcal B in weeks, with six cases recorded in the state so far this year.
Authorities revealed Friday the young patient is being treated in hospital.
A second child in Western Australia has been hospitalised with meningococcal serogroup B disease within weeks of a separate case in the same state.
Six meningococcal cases have been reported in WA in 2026, five of them serogroup B, and the disease can be fatal in five to ten per cent of cases.
WA Health says vaccines are available against all major serogroups, and anyone unsure of their vaccination status should speak to their doctor promptly.
Vaccines are available against meningococcal serogroups A, B, C, W and Y, so check with your GP or pharmacist whether you and your kids are up to date.
