US President Donald Trump's administration has imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court, hours after one of its former judges won the Nobel Peace Prize.
The US imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court, banning transactions with the court and cutting off resources in what the ICC called an assault on the rule of law.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the sanctions, citing ICC arrest warrants for Israeli officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a deprioritised investigation into US soldiers in Afghanistan.
The ICC has a six-month grace period under the sanctions and is calling on its 125 member states to take action to defend it against what it says is an unprecedented attack.
