Kyoto University has opened an online memorial for Ai, a famous chimpanzee who spent nearly 50 years contributing to research on animal cognition before dying in January aged 49.
About six months after the death of Ai -- a female chimpanzee celebrated as a "genius" for her ability to understand numbers and identify colors -- researchers at Kyoto University are honoring her legacy through a memorial website that continues to attract visitors.
