Alabama man says he found wife with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. Security cameras tell another story.
An Alabama man is on trial accused of murdering his wife Savannah, after investigators say the evidence contradicted his claim she died by a self-inflicted gunshot.
David Tolbert told investigators when he opened his car door outside a store where he was working in Huntsville, Alabama, he discovered his wife Savannah Tolbert's lifeless body in the front passenger seat. Investigators would rely on multiple security cameras to piece together what happened.
David Tolbert told police he found his wife Savannah shot dead in their car in Huntsville, Alabama, in November 2022, claiming it was self-inflicted.
Investigators say the gun was in her right hand but the entry wound was on the left side of the back of her head, which did not match a suicide.
Savannah's sisters told investigators they were certain she would never have taken her own life, and the case became a homicide investigation.
