New research published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease suggests regular aerobic exercise can boost thinking skills in postmenopausal women.
The study found cognitive improvements appeared within three months and strengthened over a six-month aerobic program, with the biggest gains at four sessions a week.
With two-thirds of Alzheimer's cases occurring in women, the researchers say exercise could be a practical tool for protecting brain health after menopause.
The study found the biggest brain benefits came from 45 minutes of moderate aerobic activity four times a week, so it may be worth chatting to your GP about building that into your routine.
